This year's Farm to Fork picnic was as excellent as expected! (Check out the menu, and all the participating farms and restaurants - it's pretty amazing). Predictably, my favorite small plates were from Crooks Corner, Neal's Deli, and Acme. But truly, all the food was incredible and the weather cooperated for a not-too-hot, perfectly overcast afternoon.
Picnic blankets outside of the big tent / Cabbage & scallion pancake with pickled spring vegetables, smoked tomato sauce & yuzu aioli / B endorsed the slow-roasted goat tacos / this adorable child was having the best time of all...!

Cape Hatteras
We loaded up the truck and headed out for a weekend of camping with friends at Cape Hatteras. I had to actually stop myself from using superlatives on the second day... it was just THE MOST PERFECT. ;)
An update on recent happenings
Friends, it's been a minute! The maelstrom of work in May gave way to a much-needed Memorial Day weekend of food, friends, and time spent outdoors. We are lucky indeed.
Pretty radishes at the farmer's market / a backyard bouquet / climbing the stands at the Occoneechee Speedway / bless your heart, North Carolina Botanical Garden / backyard date night / working the last event of the 2013-14 season / old house near the Piedmont Wildlife Center / Winston Salem mill views / summertime dinner parties / Yadkin river hikes / Pilot Mountain State Park / supper at the Hillbilly Hideaway / late night skate and trampoline action / a proper Memorial Day / wise words from Julia Child!
