Puppy birthday

June 15 marked Mabel's 5th birthday. I gifted her a large stuffed owl, which she carries with her wherever she goes, and an extra large dog biscuit. Happy birthday to my girl!

Vollis Simpson

On Friday evening, I drove east to Wilson for dinner with my friend Aaron. North Carolina artist Vollis Simpson recently passed, so we went down to his whirligig farm and workshop, to pay our respects. We ate turkey sandwiches and watched the whirligigs spin, still standing there in his pasture, going on without him.
